Life-logging, blogging, diary entries and journal records tracking our daily routines and experiences are well-worn habits.
Military leaders chronicled movement and engagement well before the Industrial Revolution. Politicians made note of daily records before even a typewriter existed. So we are no strangers to the practice of keeping track of our days.
But it is only now and in the future that the diversity of recordable stimuli is so vast.
Paired with the Lifelog Android app, the Smartwear band records calorie burns at the gym, the distance of your bike ride, how social you were with friends online and any entertainment you consumed like music or movies. You can also set goals for any of these and challenge yourself.
A really interesting feature of the Smartwear band is the “Life Bookmark” that takes note of a specifically significant life experience you had. Too often, I want to take some kind of multimedia snapshot of a moment in the coffee shop when the perfect song is playing, the coffee is at prime temperature and the natural music of urban life is outside the door. The Life Bookmark function will record such experiences so they are filed away and not lost.
The Smartwear system unleashes the potential to be more aware of your daily experiences. With the ability to record important moments, you will be sensitive to when they will happen. You will also be better acquainted with your personal progress with exercise or gregariousness. In the future, will we have daily data rundowns of our personal successes?
