Enra Creates Magic by Fusing Technology and Performance Art
Hanabusa overcomes many of the staging difficulties of live performance art, such as space, time and gravity by projecting digital animation onto a screen. The technology element forms an integral part of the story-telling, and the end result is a new freedom of creative expression that audiences regardless of nationality, age or gender find fresh and exciting.
Enra’s recent showcase “Pleiades,” is another fantastic example of the talent within the troupe, which Hanabusa believes is the secret of Enra’s success.
“Our performers are unique in that they come from many genres including martial arts, gymnastics, ballet, animation dance, juggling and street dance. In addition to that the animation is not mere background images, but an art work created by our digital artist. The fusion of all these elements makes an Enra performance special.”
Enra’s performers work closely with a digital artist to find images and words that give structure and meaning to a concept. From there, the dance and digital elements are formed to tell a story.
The troupe must then practice their routines repeatedly in order to synchronize their performance to the digital art work. Once these elements have been perfected, a new dance fusion world is created.
Hanabusa hopes to stage a world tour in the near future to demonstrate the power of this new art form.
The fusion of technology and creativity is opening up unlimited possibilities in the world of performance art and entertainment, and changing the way artists can connect with their audiences in real time.
“We think that by using technology, there will be changes to human vision and hearing. When digital animation is employed to an Enra show, the audience can feel the visual effects like that of a movie. It has been commonplace for the dancer to move to the music, but in the future, the dancers’ movement itself will be reborn as sound, and become part of a new kind of music. This is incredibly exciting.”
Enra " Pleiades "
As technology advances, we will see many new forms of creative expression emerge, like Enra. Performance artists will have greater freedom to experiment and create more complex work, which will provide different ways of interpreting the world.
The main advantage of fusing technology with creativity in this way is the ability to create an instant emotional connection with an audience. This was not always possible in the past, and is something that has yet to be fully explored.
